Weekly updates have returned! As always, it’s a new year so this blog gets plenty of attention and what better way to keep things rolling than by returning to the weekly digest of my gaming life. I’ve got a special project this year, so if you read on, you’ll find out what it is…
So in case the preview image didn’t give you a big hint, my major gaming love this week is the terrific Bioshock 2. It’s one of those huge titles that passed me by when it came out, despite having played the original and loving it I somehow missed all the hype and excitement around it. Not to worry though, as you can pick it up for around a fiver now, which is insane value!
I’m playing it through on hard, which is not something that I normally do, but I’ve managed to reach the final level of the game pretty quickly. It has helped that I’ve been playing it as a ruthless, child-murdering psycho, as being a bad guy allows you to collect more of the special powers, but it’s still really sad to see the look on the faces of the Little Sisters when you “harvest” them.
In addition to Bioshock 2, I’ve had a little bit of Xbox time on Samurai Warriors 2, Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 (both as part of the Tecmo Koei weekend celebrations) and Lost Planet. I’m revisiting older games in an effort to collect the achievements I passed over originally as part of my “Project 75%” in which I’m aiming to get an achievement completion ratio of 75% by the end of the year. This is no mean feat as I’ve played over 200 Xbox games!

Currently I haven’t made much progress. Despite completing Samurai Warriors 2′s DLC and polishing off a few more on Gundam and Lost Planet, because of the huge number of achievements available on Bioshock 2 (it has a LOT of DLC) it has dragged my ratio down quite a lot. Totally worth it though, as the game is great and I was able to buy all the DLC while it was on sale last year so I’m sure I’ll bring the percentage back!
The PS3 saw some action this week too, as I watched a couple of ultra shiny Blu-rays (Tron and Tron Legacy) and then I squeezed in a little bit of Little Big Planet prior to the Nerdjackers first Uncharted 2 game night. It’s a great console, but they really missed a trick by not supplying you with a headset so you can chat to people when you play!
And that’s about it really, I’ve been a little bit busy this week sorting out bits and bobs on this website, hopefully you’ve not noticed any outages or downtime, if you have – sorry. Thanks for reading and mind how you go!
