Few words can really be spoken about the magnitude of awesome that is on display in this clip. Sixty-four players, all running/driving/flying around at once! Absolutely mental. Of course it’s from the PC version, but I’m hopeful that the console releases will be at least 50% as amazing as this, which will still make for some compelling gameplay.

I was talking to a friend this week about a couple of films starring J. K. Simmons and it got us onto the subject of Portal 2 and his hilarious performance as Cave Johnson, the CEO of Aperture Science. As is always the case when you watch a video on Youtube, you can’t help but be dragged on a journey of related-video exploration, which is how I came across this lovely song, which I didn’t realise was even in the game – it’s pretty well hidden.

Forgot to update the blog with this video last week, but if you’ve been watching my Twitter, Facebook or Google Plus streams then you may have already seen this one. Looking back at how Bungie crafted a path for themselves as creators of pure gaming enjoyment, it was a warm and satisfying nostalgia trip for me. Best viewed in full screen 720p, in a comfy chair with a drink to hand – it’s almost an hour long!

There has recently been a flurry of activity on this theme, and with the blog reskin now complete I figure what better way to kickstart proceedings than to join in with all the cool kids and post a list of my own. These come with the caveat that while they probably can’t be considered technically, or critically, to be the “best” games, they have all shaped my life in one way or another, so much so that to me they are held in such esteem that they make this shortlist.
